On Saturday, February 20th, 2021, we held the second of the approved 2-Gun Action Challenge demonstration matches. We had 33 shooters in attendance; 11 were Club members (33% of attendance). We ran the match as four squads – two AM and two PM squads. The weather caused some folks to stay home or get called into work; we had 40 registered and 8 on the wait list at one point.

The day started out at around 27 degrees, and climbed to a balmy 32 degrees by mid-afternoon. The initial ground cover was snow and ice, which turned into lots of mud for the afternoon squads.

Squad timing for this match was perfect. The match started on time, and finished on time. There were no significant squad backlogs. There were no safety issues, and no reported injuries due to the ground conditions – though my back was pretty sore by the end of the day.

As with the January match, we received a lot of compliments for the match, from the format, difficulty, challenges, lower round counts, and even a few for not cancelling the match due to the weather and ground conditions; the shooters relished the challenge! The Club’s road conditions were amazing – Jamie does commendable work.

Our next match is scheduled for March 14th, 2021. I hope to see more Club members take advantage of this unique shooting opportunity at our Club. Registration should go live on March 2nd. Club members get 48 hours of priority approval. See 2G-ACM Club page here for the registration link.
