Fairfax County Public Hearing on Firearms on County Property

Fairfax County will hold a public hearing on September 15, at 4:30 PM, at the Fairfax County Government Center to consider the adoption of amendments to Chapter 6 of the Fairfax County Code related to weapons. Specifically, the proposed amendments to Chapter 6 will prohibit the possession, carrying and transportation of firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof in County buildings, parks, recreation and community centers and at permitted events and areas adjacent to permitted events. Fairfax is following in the footsteps of the City of Richmond, Charlottesville, and others, to take advantage of a new state law allowing localities to pass local gun control ordinances.

Gun owners in Fairfax County as well as other gun owners that may be impacted by this ordnance are encouraged to make your voice heard at this hearing.
