COVID-19 Update

Members,
Per Governor Northam, the following measures will take effect in the state of Virginia at midnight on Sunday, November 15:

Reduction in public and private gatherings: All public and private in-person gatherings must be limited to 25 individuals, down from the current cap of 250 people. This includes outdoor and indoor settings.
Expansion of mask mandate: All Virginians aged five and over are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces. This expands the current mask mandate, which has been in place in Virginia since May 29 and requires all individuals aged 10 and over to wear face coverings in indoor public settings.

Strengthened enforcement within essential retail businesses: All essential retail businesses, including grocery stores and pharmacies, must adhere to statewide guidelines for physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and enhanced cleaning. While certain essential retail businesses have been required to adhere to these regulations as a best practice, violations will now be enforceable through the Virginia Department of Health as a Class One misdemeanor.

Virgina Amended Order #63 does not affect Club operations. Recently-amended EO #67 minimally impacts Club operations:
  • The EO notes both “public” and “all businesses”. The Club is not a business. The Club restaurant continues to follow 6 feet of separation, use of disposable plates and utensils, individual self-serve packets, server using a mask, etc. The Pro Shop remains open with 6 feet of separation, and employees working in customer-facing areas must wear face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times per the EO.
  • Indoor shooting facilities are mentioned; Club compliance is for the indoor airgun range in the banquet hall area. The specific language in the EO notes “employees” and “customers”, neither of which we have; The applicable portions of the EO for our airgun range is 6 feet of separation, and use of masks if not personally related and closer than 6 feet.
  • Outdoor ranges are not mentioned at all, but outdoor recreational sports are. Applicable guidance for the Club is less than 25 spectators per field. All our outdoor ranges need to practice 6 feet of separation, and if that cannot be achieved the use of masks is necessary. The EO references “occupancy”. Club compliance for rifle and pistol ranges is already Club-restricted by the number of firing points, and the shotgun fields comply by 6 feet of separation from the shooting stations. Match Directors need to follow these guidelines, and the shotgun leagues may continue to operate as long as no more than 25 on an individual field and 6 feet of separation. Masks need to be worn in the pavillions, etc., if 6 feet of separation is not maintained. The Marcum house by shotgun field 3 has an ocupancy of 36 (taking into account the small closet), and is limited to 25 people under the current guidelines.
Continue to practice 6 feet of separation, use a mask if, and when, necessary, and wash your hands. Please do your best with this so our Club can continue to afford every opportunity of health and well-being to our membership.
Thank you,
Jeff Bolster, President
