Action Pistol Competition Clinic

This announcement is for the first Action Pistol Clinic of the year at Fairfax Rod and Gun!  This clinic is being planned pending approval by the Board to re-open the Club for events after receiving authorization from the Governor of Virginia.  Participants will receive information on social distancing measures in a follow-up email.

With the goals of safely learning while having fun, participants will receive instruction, see demonstrations, perform drills, get individual feedback and be shown ways to continue practicing on and off the range.  This four-hour session will take place entirely on the range and address:

Fundamentals of shooting

  • Drawing
  • Reloading
  • Accurate shooting at speed

Participants need to understand the Four Rules of Gun Safety (link) and basic gun handling, drawing and marksmanship skills.  No previous competitive training or experience is necessary.

All training will be conducted under supervision of a trained firearms instructor and a competitive safety officer.  A list of required items will be sent to participants and plan on bringing 250 rounds of ammunition.

The clinic will be held on Sunday, June 14th.  Check-in is at 8:30am on the Porasky Range and class will conclude no later than 2pm.  Cost is $60 and covers Club fees and targets.  This class is open to Club members and their guests.  Space is limited.
