Safety at The Fairfax Rod and Gun Club

Safety at the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club is the primary responsibility of every member, dependent, and guest in the extended Club community. Shooting safety is achieved by following with enthusiasm and dedication to the principles found in the Four Rules of Gun Safety and the rules set forth within the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club's Range Rules.

The Four Rules of Gun Safety

Always treat every gun as if it is loaded
Put your finger on the trigger only when your sights are on the target
Never point your gun at anything you are not willing to destroy
Always be sure of your target and backstop

Range Safety Orientation Classes

A key element of safety at the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club is the Range Safety Orientation (RSO) class. The RSO class is required for all Range Qualfied club members and a smokin' good idea for everyone else who enjoys our club, in leagues, as guests, or dependents.

Required RSO Materials:

Wear comfortable clothes as this is an outdoors, hands-on style course with walking
Hearing and eye protection
Notebook and a pen
Bring your full attention

The Safety Committee:

Kevin Baker, Safety Chairman (safety@fxrgc.org)
Gary Jeter, Rifle and Pistol Chairman (rifle.pistol@fxrgc.org)
Jim Davy, Shotgun Chairman (shotgun.chairman@fxrgc.org)
